|Indications||Transfusion haemosiderosis, esp in cases of thalassaemia, other haemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia & myelodysplastic syndromes,acute Fe poisoning, siderosis associated w/ liver cirrhosis & for diagnosis of Fe-storage diseases.|
|Dosage||75 mg/kg/day in 2-4 divided doses. May be adequate w/ 50 mg/kg/day or increased to 100 mg/kg/day.|
|Administration||May be taken with or without food|
|Special Precautions||Impaired hepatic or renal function, excretion of Fe complex may cause reddish brown color of the urine.|
|Adverse Drug Reactions||Joint pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, gastric discomfort. Rarely, agranulocytosis, neutropenia, Zn depletion.
