|Indications||Symptomatic relief &/or prevention of bronchospasm associated w/ asthma, chronic bronchitis & emphysema.|
|Dosage||Adult Initially 16 mg/kg or 400 mg (whichever is less) in 2 divided doses, then gradually increase up to 800 mg/day. Childn ≥16 yr 13 mg/kg or 900 mg daily (whichever is less),12-16 yr 18 mg/kg daily, 9-12 yr 20 mg/kg daily, up to 9 yr 24 mg/kg daily.|
|Administration||May be taken with or without food (May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.)|
|Contraindications||Hypersensitivity to xanthine derivatives. Active peptic ulcer, seizure disorders.|
|Adverse Drug Reactions||Nausea, vomiting, headache & insomnia. Diarrhea, irritability, restlessness, fine skeletal muscle tremors & transient diuresis.

|Drug Interactions||Lithium, cardiac glycosides, ephedrine & other sympathomimetics, oral anticoagulants. Cimetidine, high dose allopurinol, OC, propranolol, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, troleandomycin. Rifampicin, phenytoin, methotrexate.
